NL/VDH Vet.Champ. (Dutch and German Veteran Champion) Gwensigor's Didjiridu *Didji* Born: 20-02-1998
And here is my Didjiridu (pronounced as Didgeredoo). A very nice bitch and she would have had a nice show career, if she hadn’t been in a fight in 1999 during which her face was damaged and left with awful scars! Her show career had already started pretty good mind you. She was best puppy in show at the championship clubmatch of the Dutch Sheltie Club in 1998 ! The judge said: “finally a Sheltie with a good chest and great movement!” And this girl can move……like a dream. In 2000 I was fortunate to have Milesend Dancing Major coming over to stay for a few months before moving to Norway during which time Didji came into heat. Of course I had her mated and as a result I had 5 puppies. Two of them (a bitch and a dog) died within a day and so 3 boys remained. I never planned to keep a dog, but as the puppies were very promising I kept one of them, my “little Major’. Didji’s second litter was by my South African import Shemaur Secret Pact. 4 puppies of which one (a bitch) was still born and again 3 boys left. This time 3 tricolors, but not to my liking so I sold them as pets. This was the right decision as they didn’t mature nicely for showing nor breeding. Still hoping for a daughter I had Didji mated to a stud dog in Germany. Unfortunately something went completely wrong during the pregnancy and only 2 puppies were born by caesarian and they were dead: mummified. I don’t know their sexes. It didn’t matter at the time. 4th and last litter was once again sired by this dog in Germany and this time Didji once again needed a caesarian. 2 puppies were born of which the little bitch puppy died and I had only 1 boy left. This boy I named Solo and he turned into a nice pet. So…..in the end Didji produced 7 living sons. Just like Abraham ;-)))) After the 4th litter I had Didji spayed and she stayed on as a pet. But Didji is a very demanding little girl and needs a lot of attention. She barks like hell and stirs up the pack all day long. She was always quarelling with Floortje and as my pack changed quite often Didji wasn’t really happy anymore. Friends of mine just lost their 2 Shelties and so I offered them my Didji. So Didji went to live with them in 2007. She is much happier over there, is spoiled rotten and that’s exactly what she needs. If I want to I can still show her as she is officially still mine and to make up for all the shows she missed I made her Veteran Champion in Holland and Germany. Together with Major she was a big success in the “couples- group” where you must show 2 dogs, a male and a female, same breed, same owner of course and they must look very much alike. Well…..Major and Didji were really something, they won a lot of prices! You can see a few pictures here in the left side of the page. Didji comes over several times a year to stay so her owners can go on a (short) holiday, so Didji is still my little “Didget the Midget”.
