NL/VDH Junior Champion South'n Whites I'm Your Man JW/W'09
*Forrest* Born: 17-06-2008 Breeder: Debby van Beest
While half Sheltie breeding Holland gets a fit when a name occurs twice in a pedigree I hereby introduce a sturdy line bred Sheltie. Bred by my friend Debby an myself of course. This is Forrest. He is the son of my Major. Major is the son of Didjiridu who is the half-sister of Floortje. Floortje’s daughter Voske is a half-sister of Major and Voske is the grandmother of Forrest …. WHOAAAAA! Take a look at the pedigree and you'll understand. This match was thoroughly worked out in order to find out what would be the result. I knew nearly all the dogs in the pedigrees and dared to take the chance. The whole litter, 4 pups, was superbly homogeneous and all 4 pups are growing superbly. All 4 would have been worth while to hold on for breeding, but oh well, had I known beforehand! And what do I see now? I see a really beautiful Sheltie. I see two breed lines come together in one dog. Just to name a few details: he has the eyes, skull, coat and movement from dad, so from the male line. Ears, colour, nose, length of the back, neck and tail are clearly from the female line. Actually Forrest has taken best of both sides of his pedigree. But above all, this boy got the terrific structure, angulations, chest and movement. He has his father’s attitude, but is a bit shy like his mother. But then again, saucy like his dad. I fell for Forrest when I received a photo of him when he was 3 weeks old. I don’t exactly know what it was, but from that moment on I knew that this ‘son of my Major’ was going to be mine. Once Forrest was here with me, he has been spoiled rotten. His arrival brought so much joy, I had looked forward to a ‘son of Major’ for so long that I totally forgot to teach him some manners. So he is cheeky, thinks that the whole world revolves around him, demands attention, is terribly possessive [when it concerns HIS mommy] and wants nothing more than to please me. He can’t be without me, not for a second. It’s heavenly to enter Forrest into a show. He thinks it’s marvelous and it’s obvious that he enjoys all the attention. On the way home he passes out like a log, usually sitting up, because imagine me not being there and leaving him behind on his own. Without the pack he is even more attached to me than at home. I think Forrest will be at his best when he is about 4 years old, just like his father. Major was a beautiful dog, but Forrest is even better. I hope that one day Forrest will be able to start at stud [like his father he is very slow with regards to this] and then my wish is of course very clear: Forrest’s son. But for the time being I want to enjoy this fellow, because that’s what I do, all day every day. I’m becoming a bit more stern with him, but …he knows me through and through and, besides beauty this boy clearly has brains!!! He’s too clever and knows how to make me laugh. Yeees, he is a real charmer!!!!!!
